Newport is a strong rope (high breaking strength) that is often used as a halyard rope in water sports , but also as a ring rope in other sports . Because the rope is made of double-braided (braid-on-braid) HT polyester line, it is also suitable for use as a hoisting rope or winch rope . The rope's sheath is 32-plait braided and the core has a 12-strand braided construction.
